Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Session and Response Sharing in M365 Copilot

Session and Response Sharing let Microsoft 365 Copilot users share Copilot chat content through a link.

What changed

Session Sharing shares a full chat session, while Response Sharing shares a single Copilot response. The shared content opens as a read-only view, and recipients can continue from it in their own Copilot chat.

Why it matters

Shareable Copilot conversations can expose generated content beyond the original chat, making governance and recipient access controls operationally important.

Known limitations

  • Availability, prerequisites and rollout scope remain authoritative in the linked Microsoft documentation.

Now check

  • Review Copilot licensing, sharing controls and data-governance boundaries
  • Pilot full-session and single-response links with approved recipient types
  • Validate read-only access, revocation and audit behavior
