General Availability: User-initiated provisioning for Windows 365 Reserve

Windows 365 Reserve helps organizations stay productive by providing employees with short-term access to a Cloud PC when their primary work device becomes unavailable.

What changed

Eligible users can now provision their own temporary Windows 365 Reserve Cloud PC from the Windows App when their primary device is unavailable.

Why it matters

Self-service recovery can shorten device-outage downtime, but eligibility, access controls and the temporary Cloud PC lifecycle must be governed before broad enablement.

Known limitations

  • Availability, prerequisites and rollout scope remain authoritative in the linked Microsoft documentation.

Now check

  • Confirm Windows 365 Reserve licensing, eligibility and tenant prerequisites
  • Pilot user-initiated provisioning from the Windows App with an eligible test user
  • Validate access controls, Cloud PC readiness, expiration and support handoff during a simulated device outage
