Why it matters
Endpoint teams need a dedicated 26H2 deployment ring, application and driver validation, safeguard-hold monitoring and an edition-aware lifecycle plan before broad rollout.
Known limitations
- Rollout is phased and Microsoft can apply safeguard holds when compatibility issues are detected
- Windows release health lists mitigated USB Audio Class 1.0 failures, including Code 10 or no audio, while Microsoft prepares a future fix
- Machine Identity Isolation can break the domain trust relationship when the environment does not use Windows Server 2025 domain functional level
- Some Azure Virtual Desktop hosts using FSLogix can show a black screen or fail to start Explorer; Microsoft provides a Known Issue Rollback
- Feature availability can vary by device, hardware, policy, market and rollout stage
Now check
- Inventory eligible Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 devices and create a dedicated 26H2 pilot ring
- Validate applications, drivers, security baselines, BitLocker, VPN, printing and rollback on representative hardware
- Review Windows settings backup and the newly enabled commercial controls against existing Intune or Group Policy settings
- Check USB Audio Class 1.0 devices, Machine Identity Isolation and AVD or FSLogix pilot hosts before broad deployment
- Monitor Windows release health and safeguard holds before expanding the rollout
