Support tip: Restore the Managed Home Screen Exit PIN

Microsoft resolved IT1450132, which could remove an existing Managed Home Screen exit PIN when older Android Enterprise device configuration policies were updated.

What changed

The service-side issue is fixed, but policies already affected are not repaired automatically. Administrators must enable Leave kiosk mode, enter a new 4–6 digit Leave kiosk mode code, save the policy and let it deploy. The removed PIN cannot be recovered.

Technical details

  • Microsoft deployed the service-side fix for IT1450132
  • Affected policies require a newly configured 4–6 digit exit code

Why it matters

Affected Android Enterprise dedicated devices can report that no exit PIN was set, blocking the expected kiosk-exit support path until the assigned policy is corrected.

Known limitations

  • The same no-PIN screen also appears when Exit kiosk was intentionally disabled
  • Suspend Managed Home Screen can provide temporary access only when its documented prerequisites are met

Now check

  • Find Android Enterprise dedicated-device policies that were updated from older configurations
  • Under Device experience, confirm Leave kiosk mode is enabled and set a new 4–6 digit code
  • Save and deploy the policy, then verify the new PIN on an affected device
