Improved on-demand device sync for Windows & iOS/iPadOS devices

Intune on-demand Sync now initiates a comprehensive synchronization of configuration policies, apps and scripts on Windows and iOS/iPadOS devices.

What changed

The Sync device action in the Intune admin center synchronizes key workloads so managed devices receive recent changes faster. Microsoft lists this under the week of July 27, 2026, service release 2607.

Technical details

  • Comprehensive on-demand configuration, app and script synchronization
  • Windows and iOS/iPadOS support

Why it matters

A full workload sync can shorten troubleshooting, incident response and high-priority rollouts across the supported device platforms.

Known limitations

  • Availability, prerequisites and rollout scope remain authoritative in the linked Microsoft documentation.

Now check

  • Pilot the Sync device action on representative Windows and iOS/iPadOS devices.
  • Change a configuration policy, app assignment and script where supported, then validate delivery and device reporting.
  • Measure synchronization during troubleshooting and urgent rollouts before changing support runbooks.
