Require Google Workspace authentication on Android Enterprise devices with Microsoft Intune

Intune now supports requiring managed Google Account authentication on supported Android Enterprise devices after upgrading the Managed Google Play enterprise to a managed Google domain enterprise.

What changed

This capability is generally available in Microsoft Intune and helps organizations use their Google Workspace identities as the primary management identity on supported Android Enterprise devices. The new policy supports organizations that have upgraded their Managed Google Play enterprise to a managed Google domain enterprise.

Why it matters

Organizations using Google Workspace as their Android management identity need to validate the managed-domain connection and user sign-in before assigning the authentication requirement broadly.

Known limitations

  • Availability, prerequisites and rollout scope remain authoritative in the linked Microsoft documentation.

Now check

  • Confirm that the Managed Google Play enterprise has been upgraded to a managed Google domain enterprise.
  • Validate the supported Android Enterprise enrollment modes and prerequisites in the linked Microsoft article.
  • Pilot the authentication requirement with a managed Google Workspace user; test sign-in, app access and recovery for an unavailable account before wider assignment.
