Faster delivery of Win32 apps

Microsoft Intune now uses push notifications for admin-initiated and service-side changes to Win32 apps.

What changed

Managed devices can check in sooner after app changes, reducing delivery and refresh delays compared with waiting for normal polling intervals. This update improves Win32 app deployment responsiveness without requiring a new admin workflow.

Why it matters

Push-triggered Win32 app check-ins can shorten deployment latency, while detection, dependencies and restart behavior remain unchanged and must still be tested.

Known limitations

  • Availability, prerequisites and rollout scope remain authoritative in the linked Microsoft documentation.

Now check

  • Pilot an admin-initiated Win32 app change on representative devices
  • Measure push-to-check-in and install timing against normal polling
  • Validate detection, dependencies, restart handling and delivery reports
