Operating system version property in assignment filters is generally available

The operatingSystemVersion property in assignment filters is now generally available for managed devices and managed apps.

What changed

Use this property to create filter rules that scope your app and policy assignments to devices running a specific OS version or build range. For example, create an assignment filter that pilots a configuration on a newer build before rolling it out broadly or excludes devices that haven't yet updated.

Why it matters

Device-management changes can affect policy processing, reporting, app delivery or support workflows across managed endpoints.

Known limitations

  • Availability, prerequisites and rollout scope remain authoritative in the linked Microsoft documentation.

Now check

  • Map the announced change to affected Intune workloads and supported platforms
  • Pilot the exact profile, app or device action named by Microsoft
  • Review policy, app, enrollment and support reports before rollout
